SoCoRo (Socially Competent Robot Buddy)

SoCoRo is an EPSRC-funded project, in which robots are helping adults with ASD in the workplace.

Here is a video overview of the project.

Robots like EMYS and FLASH are being used in workplace scenarios to help adults with ASD understand if someone is either ‘approving’, or ‘disapproving’ of their work. User groups tell us that it is these subtitles in social interaction that are the biggest barrier to gaining and keeping employment – rather than the work itself.

Our robots have the capability of facial movement and it the mapping of these facial movements of dynamic emotion, that we want to help with ASD decode.
